In an effort to let our friends (that’s you) get to know our Team Russell Athletes a little better, we’ve done some spotlight interviews that give a little peak into their lives and personalities to help you understand why we think they’re so special.
We sat down with 2009 National Champion, Heisman winner and 1st round draft pick of the New Orleans Saints, Mark Ingram to find out why he chose to be a part of Team Russell Athletic, what he likes to do outside of football and more.
Originally hailing from Flint, Michigan, Ingram has been nothing short of a terror to opposing defenses every time he’s stepped on the field, whether it be for his high school team, the University of Alabama or leading the Saints in rushing in 2012. When he’s not knocking linebackers on their tail, he can be found relaxing with his family and friends, hitting up the links playing a round of golf, or scaring over the pins at the local bowling alley.
Ingram credits his mom, dad and 3 sisters for being the largest influence on him, which makes it no surprise that he chose to be a part of the Russell Athletic Family. “They’re a fa
mily oriented company, with very nice people to work with. They made me feel like they cared about me and not just because I was an athlete. I felt like a part of the family and not just a name on a jersey to them,” said Ingram. It’s that same down-to-earth, modest personality that makes Ingram such a good fit for Team Russell Athletic as well.
While Ingram possesses the physical gifts of a pro athlete, he’s also pretty proud of his ability to juggle, which many people might not know about him. While the circus might not be his first choice outside of football, Ingram believes that if he weren’t making a living on the gridiron, he’d be a great sports analyst.
